Well-child visits are important for all children. These visits allow your doctor to prevent, find and treat any problems before they get worse. During these visits, your doctor should perform a complete physical exam and talk to you about growth, development, injury prevention, diet, discipline and sleep problems.

The chart below shows when most children should receive well child visits. If your child has any special problems, was born prematurely or with a low birth weight, or if you have any concerns or questions about your child’s health, your doctor may recommend more frequent visits.
